"The utmost appeal across Native America is indigenous leadership training and reproductive discipleship!!

For more than thirty years CHIEF has conducted Native pastor’s conferences and short-term discipleship training institutes on Indian reservations and in urban areas across North America.

In 1986, CHIEF established the Chief Shepherd Discipleship Center on an eight acre campus in north Phoenix, Arizona.

In 1996, CHIEF started its off-campus training, "School Without Walls."  These training sessions have been taught in churches, schools, and community centers on reservations, villages and in urban areas across the Americas.

Our commitment has always been to teach and train lay people in the fundamentals of the faith, discipleship methods and Bible courses that deal with cultural issues facing the Native Christian today.

We want to personally invite you to attend one or more of CHIEF's training sessions this year.

Each session is open to everyone who desires to make a difference in the Native American community, whether it be on reservations or in the urban communities.

On the second Monday of every month from September through April, there will be an opportunity for you to interact with other Native Christian leaders. Together we will discuss common ministry issues and concerns impacting our Native communities both urban and rural.

Resolving Conflict in the Church                                    March 10,2009

    Phoenix Seminary

Story telling is a hallmark among Native peoples in the Americas.  It is a known fact that Native peoples tend to learn best by example and through oral tradition.

During this course of study we will look at some practical ways that grass roots efforts of evangelism and discipleship can be communicated in an oral culture with productive results.

BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS USING THE TIPI              April 14,2009

Native Christian leadership is one of the greatest needs within our Native communities today.  We need individuals who will be Godly examples impacting their communities on all levels, in the church, on the council, in the home, and on the job.  We need Native Christian men, women and youth who reflect the excellencies of God.

In these sessions we will look at Christian leadership development in the context of Native community. Learn how you can be an effective leader in the area of influence that God has placed you.

     APRIL 09 -    SPRING NATIVE WOMEN'S  SESSION                    APR 3 - 4, 2009

The 2009 CHIEF Women's Spring Session will be held Saturday, April 3rd and 4th at Chief Shepherd Discipleship Center, 1644 E Campo Bello Dr. in Phoenix, Arizona. Our special guest speaker will be Mrs. Gloria Crume, a White Mountain Apache. Her topic of study will be:

"WHY - Trusting God When We Don't Understand - Jer. 32:16-27"

Despite all we know about God, sometimes we will be unable to explain what He asks us to do.  Honest prayer will often express our confusion.  Haven't you ever said, Lord I don't know what you are doing or why this is happening? Even though he is confused, Jeremiah obeys God, then asks why.  Come and hear the story of a man of God who wrestled with God in prayer and who boldly and courageously proclaimed the word of God to a rebellious people.  Learn to pray as he did for those who refused to respond to the truth.

There will be an exceptional lunch prepared by one of Phoenix's top culinary chefs. Former Miss Cherokee, Mary Kay Henderson shares with us her gift of music and worship. And hear from our special speaker Gloria Crume plus enjoy the activity of creating a unique craft to share with family and friends.

To register call the CHIEF Office (602) 482-0828 and refer to the Native Women's Fall Conference.

    WHAT IS SCHOOL WITHOUT WALLS?

School Without Walls are training sessions which provide Native American pastors, church leaders and lay people with effective methods and resources to minister within the context of their culture using the Word of God as a guide.  In addition, School Without Walls may also be worship sessions.

WHERE IS THE SCHOOL WITHOUT WALLS LOCATED?

The School Without Walls training sessions can be held in any location where there are Native people who need Bible-based training.  CHIEF and local Native Christian churches and Christian ministries work together to bring School Without Walls sessions to Native communities and to urban areas where there are concentrations of Native people who will benefit from these seminars, lectures, and/or church services.

HOW DO I HOST A SCHOOL WITHOUT WALLS SESSION?
